English ski Championships

Kandahar Racing will be attending the English Championships over the period 03 – 17 Feb 2024 in Bormio, Italy. SL, GS, SG and Combi races are available for U10, U12, U14, U16 and FIS athletes. Our management team will provide trainees with the highest standards of professional ski race coaching, race support, academic tutoring and pastoral care during our time in Bormio.

TRAINING & RACING

Our programme caters for young skiers brand new to competitive snowsports, through to experienced athletes with national team aspirations. It is split into 2 distinct blocks and trainees can attend either or both blocks.

BLOCK 1 TRAINING: Training Block 03 – 10 Feb 2024 (Week 1)
This training block will provide an essential 1 full week training period. This is an ideal opportunity to prepare well for the races. Our top coaching team will ensure a professional environment is created in order to allow our trainees to fully focus on their championship success as well as athletic development. Ski training will be conducted each day with evening access to dedicated WIFI to complete schoolwork if required. FIS athletes may also travel to nearby FIS races during this period.

BLOCK 2: Race Week 10 – 17 Feb 2024 (Week 2)
Race support will be provided throughout this week at the English Championships for U10-U16 athletes. Training will be provided on any days in the programme that do not have a race in the schedule.

Simon Wells will be the camp manager and the coaching team Olly Wells and Oli Black.

RACE ENTRIES

All racers taking part in the English National Championships must arrange and pay for their own race entries, this cannot be done centrally by Kandahar Racing.  Race entries can be made online or by post closer to the time.

FORMAT

Those wishing to attend the camp as inliers must commit to the full duration of each block. Trainees attending either block 1 as inliers are encouraged to remain for block 2 as inliers as well. Those attending as outliers are welcome to dip in and out of our programme for a daily training / race support fee of £95pppd.

ACCOMMODATION & COSTS

All inliers will be accommodated in a hotel in the village of Isolaccia which is a 10 min drive from Bormio. The inlier costs are inclusive of accommodation, full board catering, lift pass, activities, airport transfer and training fees. They do not include flights or equipment hire. The outlier fee of £9 covers race support and training only. All racers must arrange and pay for their own race entries, this cannot be done centrally by Kandahar Racing. TRAVEL

Flights to all airports near the Alps are expensive during February half-term and can become fully booked very quickly, therefore we advise all parents to book flights for their children as soon as possible. For the travel details that explain which flights to book please Flights [TBC upon TD forum announcement] ‘CLICK HERE’ Please do not book any flights until you have submitted your online booking and had your place on the camp confirmed.

BOOKINGS

Places on our English Champs programme are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Upon receipt of online applications – acceptance confirmation, travel details and invoices (inc payment instructions) will be distributed. Bookings should be made online on this page by clicking the ‘book now’ tab. If you are booking as an outlier please indicate in the comments box which days your children will join us for training and/or race support. Race entries close Mid January 2024 for these races.
