K RACING PROGRAMME

Kandahar Racing's programme provides a professional, structured and developmental race training environment that encourages trainees to become great all-round snowsports athletes.  Our aim is to develop future Olympic champions and we've created a full pathway from entry level through to elite. Ultimately we hope to encourage a passion for snowsports in all our trainees which will help create athletes who are fully committed to ski racing - for the love of the sport!
 

THE PROGRAMME

The junior programme is open to all athletes from 8 - 21 years of age.  Trainees can be brand new to ski racing, or can have national team ambitions, our camps work for everyone.  Our coaching team provides consistency to the programme which allows us to develop and build upon improvements our trainees make from camp to camp.  The annual training programme itself is carefully designed to build upon skills throughout the year and develop at the right pace.  The glacier training locations and indoor facilities we utilise from May until December ensure the very best out of season snow conditions, weather conditions and facilities. Training then continues during the winter in race locations, enabling our athletes to train on the race pistes they will subsequently compete on.  The various championships we attend ensure our trainees are given every opportunity to perform and achieve their goals. In total, junior trainees (U10-U16) can have access to 14 weeks of training and racing, while FIS athletes can access up to 25 weeks of training and racing as part of Kandahar's annual programme. Additionally there are Indoor training camps on offered in Holland, Belgium & Germany throughout the off-season from Apr - Sep and NEW for 2021 summer we are hitting some key dates on the dry slope calendar.

COMMITMENT TO ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT

Our junior programme is designed to help trainees achieve their sporting ambitions without sacrificing their academic ambitions.  Trainees have the opportunity to attend approx 10 weeks of on snow training time during the school holidays which is more than enough to set them on the right track for success in the early stages of their careers.  Our school holidays based programme is also supplemented* by a term time programme with academic support in advance of the English and British Championships in order to ensure our most committed trainees are fully prepared for the biggest races of the season.

FIS

Our FIS programme is being extended to support our growing numbers of athletes moving into the FIS age categories. The 2021/22 FIS programme is based largely around our existing camp structure and GBR FIS races. The FIS programme will incorporate Summer Camp, October Camp, December Camp, January Camp, the English Champs (+ 2 weeks lead up training) and the British Champs (+ 1 week lead up training). Additionally, the FIS group will have an optional pre-season training and racing block in Hemsedal, Norway from 13 Nov - late Dec that will give them access to over 8 x FIS starts. Then after Christmas the FIS group will have another 2 weeks training/racing on the new flexi programme. In total, FIS athletes will have access to up to 25 weeks of training and racing as part of Kandahar's annual programme.

CORE PROGRAMME

For 2023/24 we are offering a core programme that's open to any trainees who are able to commit in advance to at least 8/10/12 weeks training and racing throughout the annual programme. The aim is to provide committed athletes the opportunity to have a carefully structured and planned annual programme at an affordable price, paid for monthly by direct debit. Each age category will have a coach assigned to them for the duration of 2021/22 and the inlier cost will be £1275pppw* (excl flights & race entries).
